Dear family and friends!
On 1 March 2026, I will be running Brighton half marathon to fund raise for a local charity called FMG Project.
FMG Project runs free gym-based coaching programmes for local young people to help empower and equip them for their futures. FMG Project primarily work with young people who are facing barriers to participation in sport and exercise, such as, ill or poor mental health, learning difficulties, coming from a low-income family, having a criminal record, disengaging with mainstream education and more.
FMG Project's aim is to help young people facing barriers to participation in sport and exercise, to learn, grow and achieve through fitness. Programmes are 10-week, gym-based coaching programmes combining expert strength and conditioning training, coaching around mindsets and motivation, as well as educational content about exercise, nutrition and health and wellbeing. This powerful combination of training in a unique and fun gym environment, alongside supportive and challenging coaching around different mindsets, helps young people to grow in confidence and increase their motivation and resilience, as well as improve teamwork and communication skills.
Parents of participants have described their work as "excellent and extremely valuable" and others have labelled our programmes as a "life-saver". On completion of these programmes, young people get continued support and access to free regular gym sessions at the gym up until the age of 19. Those with a particular interest in coaching or personal training can then go on to complete a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, paid for by the charity, and some of these have gone on to become paid coaches in our classes.
I recommend a donation of £15, but any amount is appreciated and will help fund our wonderful local charity.
If you are local in Brighton, please come cheer me on!
