less than 2 weeks to go!Fundraising for Brighton Half Marathon 2026 / Posted: 17/02/2026
Thank you so much everyone for your donations! A quick update from me: I've been training my socks off!
My goal was to run the half marathon in under 2 hours and finish with a smile on my face... a pretty significant challenge for someone who's never done this before and isn't a natural long distance runner.
At the start of Feb I did my first ever 16km in my fancy new running shoes (thanks Dad!) and all was feeling peachy...
And I was on track to nail my sub 2 hour goal, I felt strong and fit... until I was hit with a head cold!
It was pretty gnarly and I had to take 2 weeks off running to recover (still trying to keep up my strength in the gym though). I finally got the green light to get back into it. I ran a 6km, then 10km, and a 14km. I felt great and was comfortably at my target pace and I thought 'okay, all hope is not lost, we still might manage this!' and then BAM! I caught ANOTHER cold!!
So frustrating. Especially since I havent had a cold in a long time!! That just goes to show the strain that training for something like this puts on your body.
Anyways, as I write this, full of snot and brain fog, it's become clear to me that I have to make an adjustment... I can EITHER finish this marathon in under 2 hours, OR I can finish the race with a smile on my face.... I can't have both.
I'll give you one guess which one i'm choosing?
See you at the finish line :) x |
